403 Forbidden error
Error 403 (Forbidden, access denied) usually has one of these causes:
- There is no index file in the site directory. The home page must be named
index.phporindex.html(lowercase: file names on the server are case-sensitive). The list of index files is set in "WWW domains" -> site -> the "Index files" field. - Wrong permissions on files or directories. Directories need at least
0755, files0644. Change permissions in the "File manager" with the "Permissions" button. - The site files are in the wrong directory. The site root is shown in "WWW domains" -> site -> "Document root" (default
www/<domain>). - Access is denied in the
.htaccessfile. Try renaming it temporarily, for example to.htaccess.off. - The requested file name starts with a dot (
.env,.git, etc.): such files are blocked by the "Block dotfiles" switch.
