Setting up Syncthing

Syncthing is a P2P (peer-to-peer) application that allows you to sync files between devices and does not require a central server. Synchronization is triggered if the file/folder has been changed; the file/folder with the later modification date is considered current. Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android operating systems are supported. Devices find each other and connect using a unique device ID, similar to torrent clients. In this article we will look at how to set up Syncthing synchronization between backup storage and client device (Windows and Android). You must already have an active service "Reserve storage" and the folder created in it for synchronization, let's call it syncdir. You can order the service in the billing panel, section "Backup storage". When the service is activated, a letter with data is sent to your e-mail specified during registration. This letter can also be found in the billing panel: In the service opening letter we need a link, login and password to the Syncthing control panel: Go to the Syncthing panel of the backup storage: Find out the ID of the backup storage (needed when setting up the client device): Let's move on to setting up Syncthing on the client device. Windows Syncthing for Windows offers 2 options: SyncTrayzor and web interface (CLI & Web UI). Let's look at SyncTrayzor as an example. It can be downloaded from syncthing.net and installed. We add a device (backup storage), for this we use the backup storage ID that we received above: Specify the backup storage ID and storage name (as it will be displayed on the client device): Add the folder that we will synchronize: Specify the name of the folder, its ID and path on the client device: In the "Granting access" tab we give the backup storage access to our synchronized folder: Let's return to the Syncthing panel of the backup storage and complete the setup. Let's confirm adding the client device. The connection may take several minutes, then a request to add a device will appear - confirm: Let's wait a little (1-5 minutes) until the devices communicate with each other and confirm the request to add a folder: Specify the name and path of the folder on the backup storage: The result will be the status of the device and folder "Up to date on both devices": The order and sequence of adding devices and folders on devices is not important. The main condition for synchronization is the mutual addition of devices, the mutual addition of a folder and the mutual granting of access to all allowed devices to the folder. Connected devices and folders, their settings and accesses, can be edited by clicking the "Edit" button under the device or folder. Android Install Syncthing from Play Market. Open the Syncthing panel of the backup storage and find out its ID: Add a new device to Syncthing Android:

Enter the ID or read the QR code with a scanner and give the device a name
Add a synchronized folder:
We indicate the name and ID of the folder, select the location of the folder, and give access to the backup storage:
We return to the Syncthing panel of the backup storage. All actions are similar to those above: - confirm adding a new device; - confirm adding the folder and indicate its path; The end result will be the status of the device and folder "Up to date":
