Mysql stumbled

2013-06-04

06/04/2013 at 23:05 Kyiv time the mysql server failed. Operation was restored after 20 minutes. We apologize for the downtime.

As we have already written, a botnet is raging all over the world, guessing passwords for sites on popular CMS: Wordpress, Joomla, DLE. All this started around the beginning of April 2013 (here, for example, news with a description) and has not stopped to this day. At first, we analyzed the logs, calculated the most active IP addresses and blocked them. Then they blocked access only to the admin login pages. Over the course of a month, we added about 7,500 IP addresses to the block list, while at the beginning of April there were more than 90,000 infected servers. In general, it’s a pursuit of yesterday that will never end.

Daily

2013-06-03

On Saturday, June 1st, the tariff type has been changed: daily a small amount will be debited from the client’s personal account equal to the cost of the tariff plan and add-ons (if any) for one day. What is more convenient: - The client can order additional services or refuse them at any time without any complex recalculations of the paid period or payment of additional fees.

In recent months, we have encountered a powerful botnet that is brute-forcing (trying to guess) logins and passwords to the admin panels of Wordpress, Joomla and DLE. Requests come from different IP addresses, from different countries around the world, approximately 20-50 requests per second. All this activity threatens to hack our clients’ websites and creates (has already created) a significant load on the server.

Sunset VDS

2013-05-27

We have decided to temporarily stop providing VDS. The partnership with firstvds.ru did not work out and turned out to be unprofitable. Not the best reputation, large overselling (selling resources beyond the actual capacity of the server), buggy billing, slow and negligent technical support - all this is firstvds.ru. Accordingly, our own reputation suffers because of a negligent partner. Old customers who ordered VDS will continue to work as usual. VDS, already its own, will definitely appear in the future. Stay tuned for more news.

Report for May 22

2013-05-22

05/22/2012 at 23.30 (gmt +3) the server failed for 15 minutes. Let's investigate. We are ready to compensate for downtime, please contact us. Update May 24th A detailed study of the incident led to rather unexpected conclusions: one of our clients subjected their own website to a distributed attack (ddos), citing testing as the reason. The client is strictly warned, IP addresses are blocked, and anti-DDoS measures are strengthened.
